Control Video Sync 5 using any DAW
As of version 3, Timecode Plug-In supports MMC for sending position messages when the DAW is not playing. This way, you can scrub the timeline in target applications that support MMC. In this tutorial, we will show you how to control Video Sync 5 using Ableton Live.
We start with an Ableton Live project containing one audio track.

Create a new instrument track.

Insert the Timecode Plug-In on the new track and pick the frame rate and MIDI source you will be using in Video Sync 5. Make sure to enable MTC and MMC by clicking the respective buttons.

In Video Sync 5, we start with a project containing one video file that has been placed on the timeline.

In Preferences, select the same MIDI source as you set in the Timecode Plug-In, for both 'MTC in' and 'MMC in'.

You should now be able to see the 'Incoming TC' information in the top when you start playing in Ableton Live.

Enable external synchronization by clicking the 'Toggle Sync State' button.

Edit the timeline settings, such that the 'TC Frame Rate' matches the frame rate set in the Timecode Plug-In.

Now, when you start scrubbing in Ableton Live, Video Sync 5 follows, because of the MMC messages sent by the Timecode Plug-In.

When you start playing in Ableton Live, the Timecode Plug-In will start transmitting MTC, and Video Sync 5 will follow as well.

You are now able to synchronize Video Sync 5 to Ableton Live, both when playing and scrubbing. This process holds for all listening applications that support MTC and MMC, and all DAWs supporting VST3, AU, or AAX plug-ins.
